A serious incident on Chester Road this week has prompted a murder investigation by West Midlands Police, and there are several road closures to plan around next week.

🚨 Traffic & Roads

Clarence Road (August 19–21): Road closure for carriageway subsidence from St George's Court to Weymouth Drive. Diversion in place.

Park Road (August 13–19): Road closure currently in progress for South Staffordshire Water utility repairs near The Town Gate.

Mill Street (August 20–21): Road closure for LED upgrades affecting the whole road and surrounding High Street and Station Street intersections.

Bedford Road (August 17): Road closure to replace a column outside number 42, near Good Hope Hospital. Diversion in place.

Aldridge Road (August 8–18): Convoy working and stop/go boards for Staffordshire County Council mobile highway repairs on the A454. Full closure for two specific days within this window.

Ongoing:

  • Wylde Green Road (August 20–21): Multi-way signals for LED upgrades from Birmingham Road to Maney Hill Road

  • Jockey Road (August 19–21): Multi-way signals for LED upgrades along the full length

  • Highbridge Road (August 20–21): Two-way signals outside numbers 57/59 for lamp column work

📰 Local News

Chester Road Fatal Stabbing: West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing on Chester Road in the early hours of Saturday 8 August. A 32-year-old man died at the scene and a 20-year-old man has been charged. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police.

National Allotments Week: Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council is marking National Allotments Week (August 10–16). The town has 10 allotment sites with over £250,000 invested to raise standards. Potatoes are the most popular crop, grown by 88% of local plot-holders.
