Morning everyone,
The biggest local transport story this week isn't in Sutton Coldfield itself.
National Highways and HS2 have confirmed major M42 and M6 closures as part of the ongoing HS2 works programme. The first full M42 weekend closure is scheduled for June 26. If you regularly travel towards Birmingham Airport, Solihull or the NEC, now is the time to plan ahead.
Here's everything else happening locally this week.
🚨 Local News
Major M42 & M6 Closures Confirmed: Between June and November there will be multiple closures affecting the M42 and M6 while large railway structures are installed. The first major closure begins Friday June 26 — a full weekend closure to install a 300-metre twin-box structure. Expect knock-on delays across the wider road network.
Project Guardian: West Midlands Police have made multiple arrests this week and seized drugs and weapons as part of Project Guardian, the ongoing operation targeting serious youth violence.
Cottage Hospital Open: The newly transformed Cottage Hospital has officially reopened following its £8.5 million redevelopment into a community healthcare hub.

🚧 Traffic & Travel

Chester Road North: Street lighting upgrades continue with multi-way signals
Streetly Lane / Foley Road West: Temporary traffic control for patching and utility access
