Morning everyone,

Next week is looking heavy on the local routes, especially if you use the school run paths. Here's your quick 3-minute rundown.

🚨 Local News Updates

  • New Second Aldi Store Confirmed: Aldi has officially announced plans to open 16 new stores across the UK as part of a £370m investment, and Sutton Coldfield has made the list! No official date or exact location has been confirmed yet, but it's part of their massive upcoming summer rollout.

  • £25,000 Raised at The Belfry: A massive congratulations to the 110 golfers who took to the iconic Brabazon Course this week for the Maddie Rose Golf Day. Sporting signature yellow bucket hats, the teams managed to raise an incredible £25,000 for the Maddie Rose Foundation through the tournament, a lively auction, and the Yellow Tie Dinner.

  • Major M42 & M6 Closures Confirmed: As a quick reminder, the massive National Highways and HS2 motorway works are officially locked in. The first major hit for local drivers is a full weekend closure of the M42 starting next Friday, June 26, to install a 300-metre twin-box structure. Expect heavy knock-on traffic around the A38 and all local boundary routes. Plan ahead!

🚧 Traffic & Travel

Ongoing: Little Sutton Lane — Cadent Gas multi-way signals remain active for gas pipe upgrades, continuing through to July 10.

Next week (starting Monday June 22) — plan ahead for major 5-week disruptions:

  • Forrest Drive: Cadent Gas moving in for a major gas main replacement. Temporary traffic regulations and parking restrictions from Monday, in place for 5 weeks

  • West View Road, Coopers Road & Rosemary Hill Road: South Staffordshire Water launching a major water main replacement. Temporary traffic orders from Monday, also expected to last 5 weeks

👉 Your daily commute is about to get heavier. The combined 5-week works across Forrest Drive, Rosemary Hill Road and surrounding streets will cause major bottlenecks.
