🚧 Traffic & Travel

(Note: While boundary roads like Carroway Head and Little Aston sit right on the line, they are heavily used commuter paths for Sutton drivers, so keep them on your radar!)

This weekend:

  • Mere Green Road: Two-way temporary signals remain active just past the Lidl near Mere Green Primary School following a car crash that left wires exposed. These are expected to clear by next Thursday (June 11).

Next week — plan ahead:

  • ⚠️ Monmouth Drive Closure: A major full road closure and diversion route will hit Monmouth Drive from Monday (June 8) through to Wednesday (June 10). This is for emergency carriageway patching to fix rapidly growing, deep potholes outside numbers 173 and 355.

  • ⚠️ Mill Street Closure: Another full road closure is scheduled across the whole street on Wednesday (June 10) and Thursday (June 11) for LED street lighting upgrades.

  • Little Sutton Lane: Cadent Gas begins major long-term multi-way signal works on Monday (June 8) to upgrade gas pipes. This will cause disruptions all the way through to July 10.

  • Thornhill Road: Multi-way signals will be active from Monday (June 8) to Sunday (June 14) for South Staffordshire Water works.

  • Chester Road North: Multi-way signals will be in place from Tuesday (June 9) to Thursday (June 11) between Queslett Road E and Roylesden Crescent.

  • Walmley Road: Two-way signals will be active outside number 272 from Monday (June 8) through to Sunday (June 14).

  • Sutton Coldfield Bypass (A38): A lane closure will be in effect on Monday (June 8) between Bassetts Pole Island and the M6 Toll North for cluster works and a spring grass cut.

  • Carroway Head (A453): Two-way signals will be active near Bangley Lane on Monday (June 8) and Tuesday (June 9).

  • Birmingham Road & Lichfield Road: Both routes will see temporary multi-way signals on Tuesday (June 9).

👉 Translation: The weekend is clear of new works, but next week is heavy. Avoid Monmouth Drive (Mon–Wed) and Mill Street (Wed–Thu) entirely due to the full closures, and prepare for long-term delays on Little Sutton Lane starting Monday.
